\u201cIf Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. \u2026 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead\u201d (1 Corinthians 15:17<\/span><\/span>,20).<\/h3>\n

The historical resurrection of Jesus from the dead is pretty important to us at Risen Savior Lutheran Church. That\u2019s why we named our church after it. If someone\u00a0promises to die and rise again, then does it, that speaks volumes about the truth of his message and religion. And Jesus\u2019 resurrection didn\u2019t happen secretly\u00a0or in a corner; it was personally witnessed by more than 500 people. In fact, Oxford professor Thomas Arnold, one of the most renowned historians of his time\u00a0and intimately acquainted with all sorts of ancient literature, said in 1838 that he knew of no one fact in the history of mankind which was proved by better and\u00a0fuller evidence of every sort than Christ\u2019s death and resurrection from the dead.<\/p>\n

So what\u00a0was<\/em>\u00a0Jesus\u2019 message? \u201cEveryone who looks to the Son [Jesus Christ] and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I [Jesus] will raise him up at the last\u00a0day\u201d (John 6:40<\/span><\/span>). \u201cThrough Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you\u201d (Acts 13:38<\/span><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Jesus\u2019 life and death reconciled sinful humanity to the holy God, and his resurrection proved it. This is the message that Risen Savior Evangelical Lutheran\u00a0Church has been proclaiming in South Austin since its founding in 1983. It\u2019s a historical message with eternal meaning.<\/p>\n
